Как я понял UMTS посвежее, чем GPRS... идет тенденция к потреблению все больших объемов именно data, а не voice... так что даже и не уверен готов ли к этому дядя Роджерс... это же надо устанавливать более новое оборудование, апгрейдить итд.
Возможно в ближайшем будущем фичей дяди Рождерса "чиста пазванить" уже не будет хватать и рюшечки-шашечки таки надо будет добавлять.

я об этом и толковал - дата сейчас токо у файдо/роджерса, у мелочи ее нет.

Причемтут. У самого Роджерса data 3G UMTS/HSPA, это у 7-Eleven только WAP, зато дешево.

Их частота не имеет отношения к телефонам, телефоны поддерживают все и как только они разлочены нужно сразу бежать с ним в Роджерс

Телефону то пофигу в какой сетке он... если он по спекам поддерживает GSM / UMTS.

To make a long story short

Frequencies / Bands: HSPA: AWS (1700,2100), 850 MHz
GSM: 1900/1800/900/850 MHz

Там в настройках стоит - Dual band (UMTS/GSM).
Например когда в роуминге то подключается к тому же Роджерсу кот GSM.
Разлочь у WIND Mobile через 3 мес и вставь SIM-карту от Роджерс/Фаидо итд - все будет отлично работать.

Что-то у меня пока не получилось запустить чистый GPS (тот кот не через и-нет) на NOKIA 5230... приложение запускается а спутники не находит.
Поотрубал весь доступ в и-нет... использую просто voice-plan как emergency.

It is kind of slow. to lock onto a signal

Funny thing is that even if you cut off the data as soon as you go off wind networks you will/may be charged for data from GPS so check you bill.
One could install different GPS software - there is a manual online - supposedly works faster then original OVI (Hmmm try googling co-pilot with that model)...

У меня такой фон, ну почти такой, работает на файде, никаких чарджей за джипиэс не получал. То что он медленный я уже говорил где-то но мер не принимал. Иногда 5-10 минут надо ждать пока зацепит, но что интересно в Америке и в Израиле прицеплялся практически моментально. В Израиле оказался свои прикол залоченности. Они не дают подробную карту иностранным джипиэсам. О как!

Have not played much with GPS... may be later.
I know it should work... just didn't figure out a proper way.

Well, just delete an AP assigned by WIND by default :
Settings-Connectivity-Destinations-Access point.
Settings-Connectivity-Admin. settings-Packet data-High speed packet access-Disabled

As soon as you cut off data no extra charges on your next bill.

Of course as you unlock your NOKIA 5230, it will work with ANY SIM-card of any cell provider in Canada or any where in the world.
