Yeah Spoolsv.exe is a service that Uses a lot of cache even when its not required.

Here is a fix for that :->

Go to Start, Settings and click Control Panel
In the Control Panel window, first double-click on Administrative Tools and then on Services.
In the right pane of the Services window locate and right-click on Print Spooler and then select Stop.
After you have stopped this process, leave the Service window open. Now open My Computer and navigate to the following folder.
c:\windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS - in Windows Vista, XP, 98/95/ME

or

c:\winnt\system32\spool\PRINTERS - in Windows NT\2000
Delete all the files in the Printers folder. After deleting the files in this folder, go back to Services window, right-click on Print Spooler, and then select startto re-enable the service.

spoolsv.exe hangs Excel 2010hi,

here is the issue I am having with Excel 2010 on a Windows 7 machine with SP1 and all other required updates installed. It doesn't matter what I am doing in Excel, I could be only going to type in a cell and Excel freezes up goes to the white/gray screen and the only way to get excel to unhang is go into Task manager/Processes /find spoolsv and kill the exe. Excel 2010 immediately unfreezes and I can continue using Excel until the next time it randomly hangs and then I do the Task Manager/Processes step again to unfreeze Excel.

I have tried uninstalling the local printer, and printing off a network printer but the problem still persists. Also have tried unistalling office and reinstalling Office but that did not help matters.

ry disabling the print spoolers and check if Excel works without freezing. Follow the steps:

1. Click on Start -> Type services in the search bar

2. Open the services from the search results under Programs -> Double Click on Print Spoolers.

3. Stop the Print Spooler service and work with Excel for a while to see if Excel freezes.

There might also be chances that spoolsv.exe file may become corrupted by a virus, worm, or Trojan. Try scanning the computer with an Anti-Virus software and see if that fixes the issue.
