Таки меня сосчитали и Юру тоже
Нормальная вещь.
MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS1130) - An RCMP pilot project involves scanning thousands of licence plates out on the roads. But unless you're doing something wrong, like driving a stolen car, police say they aren't monitoring you.
The Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) is a special camera installed into seven RCMP vehicles across the Lower Mainland. It can scan and identify up to 3,000 license plates per hour, even on cars travelling 160 kilometers an hour.
The pilot project was tested in the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows last week, ticketing and charging 26 out of 7,000 scanned license plates. Of the 26 charges, 6 were for people who were driving while prohibited; 4 vehicles that were not insured; 8 drivers who did not possess a valid Driver’s Licence, and 3 other charges under the Motor Vehicle Act, and 3 other Criminal Code charges.
RCMP Constable Dave Babineau says it's been successful so far. "It can check licence plates very quickly, a lot quicker than an officer could with the naked eye. So it is a valuable tool...how valuable we'll know at the end of the project."
Some people we spoke with are overwhelmingly in favour of the system. "I think that is a great idea. I have no problems with that at all. If you've done nothing illegal then what do you have to worry about?"
