Job Title: VB-.Net Developer
Job Location: Richmond
Job Type: 24-month Contract (possible extension)
Start Date: Immediate
Job Description:
Our client is looking to bring on an experienced (5+ years) VB-.Net Developer for an extended (24-month contract).
Specific Responsibilities:
* Support of existing VB6, VB.Net and PowerBuilder apps
* Development of new .Net and client server apps
* Performance tuning
* Training end users in use of app
* Extensive troubleshooting
Skills and Experience Requirements:
* Experience in database-driven programming
* Full Software Development Lifecyle experience, including testing and troubleshooting
* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
* Adaptability / flexibility
* Strong technical ability
* Ability to work well with a dynamic, growing team, as well as independently
* Experience developing on MS SQL Server
* Experience developing for DB2 on z/OS
* Expert in development using the .Net frame work in an n-tier environment
* Expert in using JavaScript
* Expert in using DHTML and XML
* Expert in Structured Query Language (min. 5 years)
* Ability to solve technical challenges
* Ability to Debug and identify better ways of implementing solutions.
* Good communication skills (verbal and written)
* Experience developing for the Insurance industry
Essential Technical Requirements:
* .NET Framework (VB and C#)
* XML
* XSL
* XSLT
* .NET 1.1 to 3.5
* Familiarity with DB2 on z/OS
* PowerBuider V11
* MS SQL Server
* SQL Database Query Language
* SQL Reports
* Knowledge of HTML/CSSÿÿ
