Participated in the design of a new structured cabling system (SCS). Worked closely with the contractor’s team. Engineered the network topology as well as the means of installation of the SCS. Devised ways of providing information security in LAN segments. The new network system allowed for effective and safe computing of geological information in one of biggest regional enterprises.
• Conducted SCS project reviews and design meetings with contractor’s team. The meetings dealt with design of the network topology, SCS passive and active components and security means.
• Planed active network equipment, routing hardware and software for the network segmentation.
• Planned the segmentation of the LAN, as well as firewall rules for Microsoft servers and services which had to be accessible in the Militarized Zone’s (MZ) of the network segments. Designed internet security means in the MZ and the DMZ, such as firewalls and HTTP/SOCKS proxy-servers.
• Advised the enterprise’s management and the system/network administration staff about issues of information security.
01/2003 – 08/2004 The federal enterprise “Magadan territorial fund of geological information”, Magadan, Russia
Sr. System/Network Administrator
Participated in the development of a structured cabling system (SCS) modernization project. Developed a corporate network infrastructure for the local government’s geology information system which considerably increased the robustness of the system, improved stability and reduced risks of the system’s failure. The new architecture was better adapted to the different skill sets of staff members, network administrators and technicians and allowed for the effective distribution, administration and maintenance of hardware and software in the corporate network.
