New homes prices across Canada fell for the eighth-straight month in May, Statistics Canada announced Friday.

The federal agency said prices decreased 0.1% during the month, following a 0.6% in April, with the decline being attributed to falling prices in Western Canada.
Prices had previously dropped by 0.5% in March and 0.7% in February across the country.
Prices declined the most in Saskatoon, falling 1.2%, and Hamilton, with a 1.1% drop. Edmonton saw a 0.9% decrease.
For the year, new home prices were down 3.1% in May, compared to March's 2.4% decline.
Again, yearly declines were greatest in Saskatoon, with a 13.4% drop. Edmonton saw an 11.7% drop and Calgary experienced a decline of 7.9%.
Vancouver and Victoria also posted year-over-year drops of 8.3% and 6.7%, respectively.
Monthly increases for new housing prices were seen in six Canadian cities: Quebec City (0.5%); Charlottetown, Kitchener, Ont., and Vancouver (all 0.4%); Winnipeg (0.3%); and Montreal (0.2%).
The largest annual increase - between May 2008 and May 2009 - was in St. John's, which saw a 12.9% increase.
In Quebec, the 12-month growth rate was 7.2% and it was 2.0% in Montreal. The report noted that increased land development costs and the diminishing number of available lots have increased the value of land in the province.
Year-over-year price gains were also seen in Saint John, Fredericton, Moncton, Regina and Winnipeg.

Хорошо для нью хом байеров, плохо для спекулянтов и строителей. ( но несущественно хорошо и плохо ). Все равно для имеющих дом.
