SEATTLE (NEWS1130) - UN Gang leader Clayton Roueche has been sentenced in Seattle to 30 years in prison on drug and money laundering charges.

The judge handed down exactly the sentence prosecutors were after, a length of time Roueche's lawyer calls 'excessive'. His lawyer wanted a 15 to 20 year sentence. The Seattle Times reports federal prosecutors called Roueche "an extraordinarily dangerous, remorseless defendant" in documents submitted before his in U.S. District Court.

Prosecutors say Roueche, 34, had been running a continent-wide drug ring, which brought marijuana south from B.C. and cash and cocaine up north. They are also confident Roueche's gang is responsible for a list of violent crimes.

Roueche's lawyer says Roueche has never been convicted of a serious crime and there's no evidence Roueche had anything to do with murders begin blamed on the UN Gang.

Jong Ca John Lee is believed to have supplied the gang with guns. On June 9 2007, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) was called to his residence due to an unanswered 911 call. Lee answered the door, and police saw what looked like firearms inside the apartment.
