Network/System Administrator

Job Description
Working closely with senior team members in Network Administration and UNIX, the incumbent will be involved in the installation and connectivity of computer and network systems, as well as the day to day operations of the UNIX system.
Desired Skills & Experience
Technical Requirements:
Bachelor of Computer Science degree
3 – 5 years related work experience
LAN/WAN systems
Firewall technologies
VOIP
CISCO networking technologies
Good familiarity with user-oriented UNIX commands (e.g. vi)
Good knowledge of system administrator UNIX commands/concepts (e.g. smit, mount, NFS); knowledge of AIX would be a definite asset
Familiarity with “ksh” basics (knowledge of “csh” would be an asset)
Knowledge of basic disk RAID concepts
Additional Requirements:
Work experience in a large, diverse multi-user environment
Work experience in a level 1 or 2 user support environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal, team and customer service skills
Demonstrated initiative, self-direction and resourcefulness
Strong interest in learning and developing current skills in Network and UNIX to a higher level
Must be available for after-hours/on-call support on a rotational schedule
Must have a valid BC Driver’s license and be able to provide a reliable vehicle for occasional Patient Service Centre service calls
