Title: Software Tool Designer (WR12030)
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
Type: Permanent
Job Description:
You will be challenged to design, develop and support multimedia applications that operate on our clients advanced mobile multimedia microprocessors and patented Array Processor technology. These applications include Image Capture and Viewer (JPEG), Video Player, Recorder and Conferencing (MPEG-4, H.264, Windows Media, Real Network), Audio Player and Recorder (MP3, AAC, CELP) and Mobile TV (DMB and DVB).
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain tools that enable software designers inside and outside the company to develop applications on Mtekvision patented Array Processor technology.
This includes
∙Compiler for the SIMD Engine language (SEL) specially developed by our clients team for its Array Processor technology.
∙Simulator of the Array Processor where algorithms can be verified, debugged and tested.
∙Source Code Debugger operating on the simulator of the target (i.e. microprocessor) itself.
∙Create a simulation model for the multimedia processor that operates on Solaris, NT and Linux platforms.
Skills Required:
∙ B. SC. in engineering or computer science.
∙ Working knowledge of parsers, compilers and debugger.
∙ Working knowledge of C and C++ programming.
∙ Working knowledge of Microsoft Foundation Classes.
∙ Working knowledge of Visual Studio.
∙ Working experience of developing applications operating under Windows.
∙ Good written English skills.
∙ Able to work with minimum supervision.
Desired Skills:
∙ Experience with SIMD architecture and/or parallel processing.
∙ Understanding of real-time operating systems.
∙ Experience with JTAG functions.
∙ Ability to learn quickly.
∙ Self-Reliant.
∙ Understanding of multimedia software applications like video, imaging, graphics processing in code constrained embedded systems (microprocessors, programmable DSP) would be an asset.
