Network Engineer Permanent position Salary 52-85K Jnr to Snr
Headquartered in Quesnel, B.C., our client offers employees the opportunity to live in

Candidates must have a post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in the field of Information Technology.
Enterprise-class experience with routers, switches (particularly HP Procurve), firewalls (particularly Cisco), security, WAN, LAN, managing outsourced solutions, VOIP, SAN, cellular data, wireless, and AVAYA Phone systems would be an asset.
HP procurve, Cisco firewalls, switches, routers. Security and Experience dealing with Telus and other vendors for Wan in enterprise environment. THESE are the most important requirements
Education/Experience:
- Required -- Bachelors degree in Information Technology with a focus on enterprise-level network technologies, or equivalent technical training with 3+ years related experience. Advanced degree is a plus but not required.
- Required -- Well versed in network administration, including hands-on experience with routers, switches (especially HP ProCurve), & firewalls (Cisco).
- Required -- Understanding of enterprise network environments, i.e. security, WAN, LAN, QoS, VLANs, VOIP, SANs, wireless, cellular, VPN solutions, etc.
- Required -- Understanding of routing protocols like OSPF, RIP, and BGP.
- Required -- Strong trouble-shooting skills, analytical and diagnostic skills, problem-solving skills, and good communication abilities.
- Required -- Self-starter & self-motivator that can “think outside the box”.
- Plus -- Experience with managed services from large telecommunication providers.
- Plus -- Any cabling experience (fiber and/or cat 5/6) would be a plus, i.e. running, testing, terminating, etc.
- Plus -- Hands-on phone systems admin experience (Avaya).
- Plus -- Knowledge of and/or experience with HP servers -- Windows Server 2003 & 2008, Solaris, Unix, LINUX, VMware, etc and/or HP desktops -- Windows XP, Windows 7.
Responsibilities:
- Provide all levels of network support for enterprise -- US & Canada.
- Assist with design, upgrade, and installation of network equipment/configurations in US & Canada
- Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network problems for end-users, and recommend & implement corrective solutions.
- Work cooperatively & collaboratively with other IT staff members to ensure efficient operation of the company’s computer system environment.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of network components -- switches, routers, firewalls, etc.
- Accurately document instances of networking equipment or component failure, repair, installation, and removal.
- Accurately document and manage trouble instances in the IT trouble ticket system according to the established guidelines.
- Support, implement, and enforce company standard hardware & software.
- As necessary, liaise with third-party support and networking vendors.
- Conduct research on network products in support of procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend products for purchase.
- Job will require you to move networking equipment around offices/mills.
- Job will require some late night and weekend work.
- Travel: varies, but average 25%, to include international travel to the USA.
