The bid for the land where the Olympic athletes' village will be built sets a record

"Vancouver city council has accepted a local development company's $193-million bid to buy the southeast False Creek land where the Olympic athletes' village will be built.

The price is far in excess of anything the city had anticipated for the 2.6-hectare site, which the winning bidder, the Millennium Group, will develop into 800-plus market housing units that will be sold after the 2010 Olympics.

The bid sets a record for land price in Vancouver and even nationally. .."
But the price is so far beyond anything seen in Vancouver or even Canada that people were taken aback.

"It's a phenomenal amount of money," said Michael Geller, a former president of the Urban Development Institute and the current developer of Simon Fraser University's housing projects.

"These are such big numbers, I have to check them twice. Not only is that probably the highest price per square foot for a development in Vancouver, it is probably the highest price for a development site in Canada. I cannot imagine anybody paying that in Toronto."

А похрену как то.. И так всем понятно, что это отмыв бабла..
Компания, которая подцепила этот контракт, может не работать остаток жизни..

... я так не думаю, они выиграли тендер на покупку куска земли с обязательством построить обьект на свои деньги, сейчас построят для олимпийцев, а после будут распродавать желающим ... вопрос что если желающие не найдутся по таким ценам покупать ... ... кстати, Concord Pacific который весь Yaletown застроил, им проиграл ... был готов дать только 170 млн ...

в даунтауне уже перевалили за $300к на такие квартиры.
интересно, что уже образовалась большая прослойка населения, которая рентует и ждет когда пузырь лопнет, а он все растет и жирнеет....
в олимпийской деревне будет интересно строительство - она будет закрыта для машин и застроена мелкоэтажными домами как на фолс крик со стороны гренвил айленд. только те все лики, а эти будут супер. элитное жилье можно сказать.

Если бы сегодня эта деревня была готова, все хаты были бы уже раскуплены и по таким ценам.

... сегодня прочитал в газете, что на месте где сейчас пустырь между Terminal Ave и железкой еще планируют строить городок для нескольких тысяч строителей строителей которые будут воозводить эту деревню ... трафик ожидается не слабый во время и перед олимпиадой, в скайтрейн так просто уже не войдешь с утра, как в Питере штурмом брать каждый день ...
