Key Accountabilities / Activities:
Job Summary:
The incumbent reports to the Manager, Quality Assurance and is responsible for the creation and execution of testing plans, also the creation and execution test cases based on business requirements. Ensure quality delivery of software for small to large development or maintenance projects. Incumbent is responsible for testing applications thoroughly to ensure that the risk of promoting changes to production are minimized. The incumbent will have specialized multi-platform knowledge and understanding of a moderate to complex operating environment. The incumbent will document systems/application tests procedure, maintain testing data and environment, report testing results, log variances and escalate unresolved issues. As a senior QA tester, the incumbent needs to coach junior QA tester as required. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing and assessing the BRS (business requirement spec) documents and the technical design documents for ambiguities and omissions from QA testing perspective..
General Accountabilities:
*Interact with BA, developers to analyze business & system requirements and identify test requirements.
*Develop test cases according to system requirements/test requirements. Use standard QA process, methodologies and tools to execute test cases to do testing of system functionality, integration, and performance.
*Create and review Test Plan with relevant stakeholders, and do testing according to Plan. Report the status of test daily.
*Determine variances, ownership, root cause, submit variances with description and follow through to completion.
*Collaborate with QA team members to refine testing process and methodology. Write testing scripts and configure testing tools according to needs to improve testing efficiency.
*Based on BRS (business requirement spec) and technical design documents, work with relevant stakeholders to estimate testing effort.
*Participate in QA tools evaluation and selection as required.
*Assist in estimate of QA testing efforts.
*Coach junior QA testers as required.
Requirements:
Knowledge and Skills:
*University degree or college diploma in information technology.
*5 to 8 years experience in QA testing on enterprise financial software.
*Working knowledge of Perl, CGI, CA7, JCL, CIF, CICS, IMS, ISPF, CLISTS/REXX, COBOL.
*Basic knowledge of CPCS and iCPCS as well as exposure to cheque processing and imaging software an asset.
*Knowledge of industry standard hardware/software and hands-on experience in the troubleshooting of equipment/applications.
*Working knowledge of QA & CM tools an asset: ClearQuest, WinRunner, LoadRunner, ClearCase or equivalent.
*Software Quality Certification (or in progress).
*Risk assessment and quantification methodologies, IT standards, SDLC, CMM & audit requirements.
*Advanced knowledge of exception item processing as well as exposure to cheque processing and imaging software an asset.
*Strong knowledge and experience in quality controls for systems.
*Strong written and oral communication skills.
*Competence in problem resolution and an understanding of customer impact and business needs.
*Fluency in French an asset.
