Driver Licence from BC to ON

Other important things to do if you’re leaving B.C.

Check the rules in your new location

Before you move from B.C., or as soon as you arrive at your new location, find out the local rules for registering, licensing and insuring your vehicle. You may have to register, license and insure your vehicle there before your ICBC insurance expires.

Not following such rules could result in fines or other penalties in your new location.

For more information, ask the motor vehicle authority or an insurance agent there.

IMPORTANT: If you are required to license and insure your vehicle upon arrival in your new location, do not renew your ICBC policy. If you did, your policy would be considered void. If you had a claim, you wouldn’t be covered.

Get copies of your claims history and driving record ("driver's abstract")
Your claims history and driving record here in B.C. directly affect how much you will pay for auto insurance in your new location.

We suggest you get copies of these records from ICBC, then provide them to your new insurer. If you don’t, you may end up paying more for insurance than you should.

How to obtain your ICBC Claims History Letter
We can send you a copy of your Claims History Letter by mail, fax or e-mail. To request yours, call:

Lower Mainland: 604-661-2255
Elsewhere in B.C., Canada or the U.S. : 1-800-663-3051
How to get a copy of your B.C. driving record
Visit any Driver Services Centre or B.C. Government Agent, or

Phone:

Lower Mainland: 604-661-2255
Elsewhere in B.C., Canada or the U.S. : 1-800-663-3051
In some areas of B.C., you may also obtain your driving record from an Autoplan broker who has been chosen by ICBC to act as an "Appointed Agent." Make sure you ask your broker first whether he or she is, in fact, an ICBC Appointed Agent. If they are not, they do not have the authority to provide your driving record.
