Role Description
The Senior Application Developer will be involved primarily with the development and support of all Front Office IT applications used by the Currency and Global Asset Allocation business groups across offices. The technology involved is J2EE applications running on JBoss & Weblogic application servers and utilizing Oracle databases. This individual will be supporting the maintenance of existing application as well as be involved in the development of new functionality. In addition, the individual is expected to interact with other IT groups like Infrastructure, Architecture and Back Office teams in all phases of application development and support.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate in full lifecycle development of applications to meet business needs.

• Support & Maintenance of existing applications by interacting with other IT groups & business users

• Liaison with other developers and project managers.

• Produce Specification documentation.

• Unit testing of investment management applications



Expertise

• Bachelors in CS/IS, Engineering, Math, Physics, Finance or related subjects.

• 5+ years of expertise in developing or supporting applications using Java, J2EE, Javascript, AJAX, XML/XSLT

• Proficiency in database programming using PL/SQL and relational databases like Oracle, Sybase or SQL Server

• General knowledge of scripting, automation, workflows and data loaders

• Experience working in the financial industry



Desirable:

• Exposure to Portfolio Management or Trading application development.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience using ClearCase/ClearQuest or any other software version control and issue tracking systems

• Understanding of design languages such as UML.

• Able to work as part of a team as well as be self-directed.
