Upcoming concert ~ Voces Intimae (Victoria)

Music lovers looking for an exceptional musical experience should consider attending the performances of Rachmaninov's powerful 'Vespers' that will take place on:

*Fri., Feb. 12th*, 7:30 pm, St. Mary's Church, 1973 Cultra (Saanichton); and
*Sun., Feb. 14th*, 4:30 pm, St. John the Divine, 1611 Quadra.

The work will be performed by 'Voces Intimae', which specialises in the performance of Slavic Music. Director Tony Booker studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and has recorded a great deal of Russian Music, both sacred and secular.The 'Vespers' is an hour-long a cappela piece which captures all the grandeur, vitality and expressive power of Russian music.
Tickets are $20/$15, in advance at Ivy's, Larsen's, Long & McQuade and Tanner's, or at the door.

*Hello All - There will be a Russian Sacred Music Concert - Rachamaninov's Vespers on Feb.12th and 14th and you are invited to come. For the time, place and price read the attachment, or the letter which follows. Who is interested about the conductor and director of Voces Intimae who has UVic Degrees in Music, and speaks Russian - Tony Booker, read the second letter. I know Tony for many years, and will recommend highly his concert.
Tony is not only a talented musician, and performer, but with his help we were able to start raising funds for orphans and street children in Russia! With his concert back in 1998, we were able to send money, vitamins and medical supplies to Khabarovsk (Twin Sister City to Victoria) orphanage for children with special needs, or Orphanage #5. From this year and on, Tony has helped me raise money with charity concerts, and if he and his artists were free at the time of our concerts, he was always willing to participate.
Please, if you are free come to listen to the upcoming concert, especially if you are interested in Russian culture and language, because the singing will be in Russian, as Rachmaninov have intended, so nothing will be lost, or missinterpreted. (Galina Alpatoff)*
