Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters tells the story of the aristocratic Prozorov siblings, their longing for Moscow, and the day-to-day hopes and tragedies of their friends and family. Over four transformative years, their way of life and dreams of returning to Moscow slip away. Amiel Gladstone’s new adaptation of Chekhov’s "most profound and searching” work is a surprisingly funny meditation on the persistence of hope in the face of disappointment. One of the foundations of the modern theatre, Three Sisters rings as true today as it did at its 1901 premiere. This is its first professional production in Vancouver since 1980.
