д. Lac-Mégantic
The leader of India‘s Sikh-majority Punjab state has slammed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party after the federal government removed direct references to Sikh extremism in a recent terrorism threat report.
Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, whose meeting with Trudeau was one the flashpoints of the prime minister’s troubled trip to India last year, called the move “a threat to Indian and global security” in a statement issued by his office on Saturday.
Singh suggested that Trudeau was kowtowing to Sikh voters ahead of October’s federal election, slamming the Liberals for what he called a “knee-jerk decision that was clearly aimed at protecting its political interests in an election year.” ...
KINSELLA: PM branding Scheer a Nazi sympathizer to distract from Lavscam trivializes hate victims' suffering
...
“The Conservative leader refuses to denounce white supremacists!” Trudeau yells in the House of Commons. One of his ministers follows suit, and says that Scheer is “associated” with a neo-Nazi leader. Another minister says that Scheer “shares platforms” with white supremacists.
None of these things are true — Scheer has repeatedly denounced white supremacy in the House, and is in no way sympathetic to neo-Naziism. But it doesn’t matter.
The Liberal government, desperate to move on from the Lavscam scandal, has landed on a repellant strategy: brand the Conservative leader as a Nazi sympathizer.
It’s dishonest and it’s despicable, but Trudeau is also undeterred. The Liberal leader is double-digits behind the Tory leader, some polls suggest. He is frantically attempting to change the channel from Lavscam. ...
Canada lawmaker says Trudeau's warning against white supremacy is ethnic attack
...
(Maxime Bernier) comments on Monday were in reference to last week’s move by the Trudeau government to change a report on terrorist threats in Canada that was first published last year to no longer explicitly mention “Sikh extremism.”
“We’re told the word Sikh was removed because ‘entire religions should never be equated with terrorism.’ And yet, (Trudeau) has been warning us for weeks about the dangers of ‘white supremacy,’ equating an entire ethnicity with terrorism,” Bernier wrote on Twitter and Facebook.
“Hypocrite! It’s all about pandering for votes,” he wrote. ...
“The NDP mayor of Vancouver said he wants a carbon-free Vancouver by 2040,” Kenney told the crowd, referring to Stewart’s previous role as a NDP MP for Burnaby South.
“Well, if the B.C. New Democrats continue to block our energy, we’ll happily give them a carbon-free Vancouver by 2020.”
Kenney has been critical of B.C.’s court challenges against the Trans Mountain pipeline extension, which Premier John Horgan and several B.C. mayors including Stewart have vowed to stop.
