Position Title: System Administrator
Reports to: Director, Information Systems
Function/Scope of Position:
Install, configure and maintain Angiotech▓s Information Systems. Ensure continuous uptime
of critical systems. Conduct computer systems validations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
Evaluate and install new servers, network hardware, and back-end Software
Applications
Maintain several Linux systems as well as a Windows 2003 LAN
Install and configure apache, mysql, bind, PHP, Amanda, crontab, samba and other unix
services.
Administer and support various systems including, but not limited to Debian, Redhat,
and MS windows systems
Conduct computer Systems Validations and Enterprise Risk Assessments
Perform day-to-day activities including system back-up, upgrades and scheduled
maintenance
Record all activities in issue tracking system for change-control
Install and configure servers, including the ongoing maintenance of network and operating system patches, service packs and release upgrades.
Monitor syslogs and other logfiles proactively. Resolve problems as appropriate
Develop systems and utilize tools for network management, system administration /
monitoring in Unix, database and information storage systems and backups.
Administer WAN, VPN and RAS connections
Develop scripts to automate manual processes
Other duties as assigned
Education & Experience Required
Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2 years experience in System Administration in a regulated environment
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Expert level knowledge of Linux & MS Windows
Knowledge of GxP procedures for computer system validation
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as in the team environment is essential.
Hands-on experience with TCP/IP networking protocols & services, network security and
firewalls
Fluent in at least 2 scripting languages
