A 59-year-old Manitoba woman who was reported missing in January has been found frozen to death beside her car along a major highway.
RCMP confirm the body of Sally McManus was discovered Monday morning about five kilometres south of Erickson, Man., along Highway 10. RCMP had been searching by helicopter when officers spotted her car in the ditch below a curve in the road.
Sergeant Helmut Neufeld said previous ground and aerial searches weren't successful because her car was buried in snow.
She was last seen on the blustery night of Jan. 26 at the Nordic Inn in Erickson.
Sgt. Neufeld said there was evidence of gravel on top of the snow-covered car. He suggested that indicates plows may have dumped extra snow into the ditch and the car wasn't visible to motorists.
