The immigration portfolio goes to first-time MP Ahmed Hussen, 30, an immigration and human rights lawyer who arrived in Canada in 1993 from Somalia (Muslim). In his work on human rights before politics, Hussen argued strongly, that Muslims themselves need to do more to root out extremists in their mosques and in their communities.
Ahmed Hussen will continue the Trudeau government’s ambitious work of bringing more Syrian refugees to Canada.
