VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - After a six month education and awareness campaign, Vancouver's Idle-free Bylaw is now being enforced.
Brain Beck with the City of Vancouver says parking enforcement are issuing tickets for any vehicles that are parked and idling for more then 3 minutes. Violators will incur fines of anywhere from $50 to $100.
An idle-free hotline has been established (604) 257-2404 and citizens are encouraged to call and report repeat offenders and problem locations.
Vancouver City Council enacted the Idle-Free Bylaw in July 2006. These efforts are in support of a Council mandate to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Extensive testing on behalf of Natural Resources Canada has proven that idling for periods as short as ten seconds uses more fuel and produces more greenhouse gas emissions than stopping and restarting your engine. Recent tests by Air Care confirms that this finding also applies to other forms of air pollution. This is because oxygen sensors on today's vehicles are electrically heated, preventing the engine from running too rich upon restarting and the catalytic converter does not cool down enough while the vehicle is shut off to justify idling the vehicle.
В Онтарио можно, если холоднее чем Х градусов или жарче чем Y. Цифры не помню но они разумные.
А по поводу выхлопа и расхода бензина- для современного автомобиля старт равен 30 секундам работы.
Я уж не говорю о тех имбецилах которые оставляют заведенную машину и выскакивают на секунду денежку снять или подобное. И им пох что ктото может прыгнуть за руль и понестись. И такое бывало не раз в Торонто. Последний раз в машине был ребенок. Ипанутая мамаша заскочила на секунду обратно в дом - забыла чтото там. За такое надо прав пишать, а повторно- родительских.
