General Accountabilities

The position is responsible
for providing application development, mentoring, analysis, and
design services on a specific group of custom GIS applications for various
customer groups in Hydro One. The successful candidate will be an
expert in the technologies listed in the Knowledge section below and will
be expected to mentor others.

Specific Accountabilities:


*Providing analytical,
design and coding services to support GIS applications either already in
service or under development via project teams involved in deploying business
solutions for customers;

* Assisting customer
and TSDC internal business groups in capturing their operational requirements
and constraints for their applications;

* Designing applications
and databases to meet stated business requirements;

* Preparing technical
documentation (e.g. procedures, user guides, test plans, Change Control
work plans, GIS, Data or Application Standards, Data Architecture recommendations);


* Providing ongoing
operational support to GIS Systems in conjunction with other TSDC support
units.

Selection Criteria Essential


• Excellent verbal and
written communication skills;

• Willing to provide
occasional off-hour on-call support as required in a production environment.


Essential Knowledge,
Experience and Qualifications:

*Four-year university
education in computer science or equivalent;

*Demonstrated experience
in web application design, development and support using Visual Studio/VB
ASP.Net/2003/2005, OOP programming, Java J2EE, JSP web development, DHTML,
XML, PL/SQL, WebLogic and IIS environments

*Demonstrated experience
in database modeling, tuning and administration, ODBC/JDBC for Oracle
9i/10g.

*Knowledge of development
methodologies across the full system lifecycle (TSDC is CMM and ITIL Level
3 certified)

***Experienced in ESRI's
ArcGIS application suite including ArcSDE, ArcMap, ArcIMS, ArcObjects and
MapObjects

*Experience in Java/VB
application programming using ruggedized XP tablets with GPS in connected/disconnected
mode beneficial
