• An Olympic anniversary on the News1130 Midday Show
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The City of Vancouver is gearing up to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the 2010 Winter Olympics this weekend. There will be free events around town, starting tomorrow.
Friday, February 11th and Saturday, February 12th:
2011 CIBC LunarFest (3 - 11 p.m).: Make your own lanterns at the Vancouver Art Gallery Plaza
February 12 LunarFest Procession (6:30 p.m.): Granville Street
Illuminate Yaletown (5:59 - 10:30 p.m.): A free, entertainment-filled street party with light installations from local artists. Located at Mainland and Hamilton, between Drake and Nelson.
Light up C.P.R. Train Engine 374 (6 - 10 p.m.): Build your own state-of-the-art "light throwie" from a battery, an LED, and a magnet. It will be put onto the engine to make it a constellation of thousands of tiny lights. Admission is $2.
Saturday, February 12th:
Robson Square (9 a.m. - 11 p.m.): Free skating, music, and entertainment. There will be interactive community arts, special guest appearances, and opportunities to meet Canadian 2010 Olympians. Robson Street will be closed between Howe and Seymour.
Vancouver AM, Re-unite the Jackets Pancake Breakfast (9:30 -11:30 a.m.): John Furlong gives an insider's account of the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics Games.
Vancouver Art Gallery (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.): Opening day of Vancouver-based artist Ken Lum's new exhibition. Free admission.
Vancouver 2010 legacy event at Creekside Community Recreation Centre (11 a.m. - 3 p.m.): Free family event with Olympic and Paralympic themed activities. There will be a hockey sledge race, winter sports on Wii, pin trading, 2010 memorabilia on display, and a big screen TV showing Games highlights.
Let's Celebrate One Year since the Vancouver 2010 Games! (11 a.m.): An inukshuk sculpture will be unveiled at the Kerrisdale Community Centre followed by a reception. Activities include crafts for the kids and cake-cutting. You're encouraged to dress in your best "Canada" clothes and bring your red mitts!
Relive Centre Ice On Granville (noon - 9 p.m.): Street hockey, buskers, and the LunarFest Procession will take place along the Granville pedestrian corridor. Granville Street will be closed between Smithe and Dunsmuir.
2010…All Over Again! Golden Memories (1:30 - 4:30 p.m.): Wear red and white to skate for half price at the West End Community Centre and Ice Rink. There will also be dry floor curling, winter games on the Wii, Olympic highlights, and photos with one of the Olympic torches.
Lighting of the Olympic Cauldron (4 p.m.): Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games torchbearers, VANOC volunteers and staff are encouraged to gather with the public for the first anniversary of the official lighting of the Olympic Cauldron at Jack Poole Plaza.
Saturday, February 12th and Sunday, February 13th:
Canadian Flag Installation at Lost Lagoon (Lit starting at 5 p.m.): The 12'x6' Canadian flag at Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park has been reinstalled. The 52-foot flag pole will be lit for the anniversary weekend. Best viewing of the flag is in front of the Nature House (at the foot of Chilco Street).
Saturday, March 19th
Paralympic Games One Year Anniversary Public Skate at Sunset Rink (2 - 3:30 p.m.): Public skating, mascot colouring and tattoos for the kids, and raw prizes. There will also be the Sunset Figure Skating Club's Spring Gala Ice Show from 6 - 8 p.m.

Русскоязычные волонтеры из разных команд встречаюстся у входа в Convention Centre в 3.30, потом идут все вместе смотреть зажжение огня, после этого на пиво. Да, надевайте куртки у кого остались.

Несмотря на "шепот погоды" народу все равно было полным-полно. Так приятно было увидеть всех своих через год.
