Toronto - JUNIOR SYSTEM SUPPORT AND ADMINISTRATION

For small yet established company north of the GTA that has been delivering innovative core banking software and systems to financial institutions for over 30 years. The position is a temporary position from July 4th to August 31st, and the selected candidate will be responsible to provide support and configuration services on our own and our clients computer systems and data networks.

This position is ideally suited for a summer or co-op student who has already completed their second or third term and has some hands on experience configuring and installing operating systems (Linux and Windows) and hardware (routers, DSL modems, hard drives, RAID systems, etc.).

You must have your own vehicle as our offices are located out of the city and some travel to customer locations will be required.


Job Requirements and Duties

a working knowledge of Unix, Linux and Windows environments
understanding of serial, LAN WAN, parallel connectivity
ability to write automation scripts would be an asset
ability to install and configure network cards, voice cards, hard drives, raid arrays, and CPU’s in different types of systems running different operating systems
ability to install and configure various application software and operating systems such as Tomcat, Apache, SUSE Linux, Windows XP, DOS
must be flexible, as this is not always a nine to five job, occasional weekends assignments, and to be on call
must have good communication skills both in writing and verbally
must be self motivated and able to work in a team environment or independently
document all; support calls, program fixes, program enhancements, developed programs, travel - to include ; time, date and duration
keep detail records of expenses incurred performing duties
provide client support as required
assist other staff in general office duties when needed
provide quotations on hardware and communications internally
other duties as assigned
