1 TEMPORARY POSITION UNTIL JUNE 20, 2008

As a member of the Quality & Risk Management team, this individual is responsible for leading a multi-functional team which contributes to the overall effectiveness of case processing within the Client Services area by maintaining the integrity of case processing procedures. This position is responsible for the development and management of a high performing team that ensures quality standards and procedures for Plan Operations processes are maintained, ensures accuracy of all benefit payments, and provides inter-divisional support with respect to various aspects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Recruit, mentor, provide direction and leadership to the staff and team.
• Communicate effectively with staff, coach/mentor, develop staff and measure individual performance through ICA process
• Monitor workflow, establish and re-organize the work, develop resource plans to effectively meet performance goals and service standards.
• Develop individual team plans in accordance with division business plans and objectives, reporting and monitoring team statistics.
• Review, approve and report on all data and system overrides.
• Develop criteria for high risk/special case reviews; review high risk cases during transaction stage.
• Review and approve administration procedures, training programs and tools to ensure accuracy of all benefit calculation methods.
• Conduct user acceptance testing for new manual processes to ensure accuracy of all benefit calculation methods; work with others to correct known errors.
• Conduct ad hoc pension administration, data integrity and pension calculator tool reviews to identify training and procedural changes that may be required.
• Conduct user acceptance testing for new tools and enhancements to existing tools, (ie; HOOPPAA).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• University degree and/or a combination of equivalent training, education and experience.
• Pension Plan Administration Certificate (PPAC) and/or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist Program (CEBS) and/or other pension related training courses would be an asset.
• 5 -7 years progressively more responsible experience in defined benefit pension plan administration, including experience in a management position.
• Knowledge of pension plan administration and governing legislation and regulations – HOOPP Plan text and Policies, Pension Benefits Act, Income Tax Act, Family Law Act, Employment Standards Act
• Experience in managing within team-based organizations or multi-functional teams.
• Ability to lead, coach, mentor and motivate staff. Recognize and lead opportunities for effective change and improvement.
• Experience in the application of core managerial skills / competencies including recruitment of staff and performance management.
• High level of initiative and professionalism.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to plan, organize and monitor work effectively to ensure standards of performance are adhered to.
• Ability to effectively adapt to an ongoing change environment.
• Excellent project management and time management skills.
• Knowledge of systems and relevant software applications (MDC, TBA/PAS, HOOPPAA, Microsoft Suite).
