System Developer- Job Specification

This position is a software development contract role within … and requires considerable knowledge of multi-tier system development techniques, preferably coupled with knowledge of the financial markets and accounting. This position will report to the Technical Lead of the project. The following is a list of the primary activities associated with the role:
• Assist Senior Developer in delivery timeline assessments
• Analyze the user requirements from the user interfacing perspectives, and provide recommendation for the presentation layer design
• Develop a WEB based front end that provides reporting functionality between client and the dB/Cube, and provides input capability of user variables, which will be used for the immediate report generation
• Implement the application security requirements based on the sensitivity and proprietary nature of the data
• Implement and enforce the firm’s security guidelines and other policy restrictions relevant to the project
• Ensure Quality Assurance by working with internal QA group, and through the regular communication flow between developers and QA resources
• Assist BA in development of a testing strategy, and execute test cases
• Provide support to the Senior Developer on documenting all procedures, and provide a walkthrough to the post-implementation system support team

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
• Computer Science, or College degree in Computer Information Systems/Computer Programming.
• 5 years of application development experience with a minimum of 2 years in an intermediate JAVA developer’s role
• Strong analytical skills
• Highly skilled in Java and J2EE technologies (Weblogic preferred), and XML
• Familiar with one of the leading BI technologies, Cognos preferred
• Nice to haves: experience with JUnit, Eclipse, T-SQL, knowledge of UNIX and Mainframe environments
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills
