What's the job?
We're looking for an architect. No, not someone who can help us design a building, but someone who can help us to ensure our applications are scalable, reliable and manageable. As the Applications Architect at Coast Capital, you'll provide oversight for strategic projects while ensuring that applications architectures are aligned with our goals, objectives and adheres to Enterprise Architecture reference frameworks. You will provide architectural expertise, direction and assistance through the long term and short term planning and execution of architecture design, analysis, testing, implementation and documentation. You will work in a team to analyze and propose the best solutions for executive sign-off as well as working with teams throughout the cycle of design, analysis, testing and implementation.

What you'll get to do:

Build proactive application solutions and integrate with Application, Security, Interfaces, Users streams.
Help document and communicate policy and standards for application and software programming.
Put together research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility.
Report progress status and forecasts; establish project timelines, resources, budget needs; track & manage progress; report project issues and generate viable solutions; report project risks and generate risk mitigation activities.
Collaborate with Infrastructure Architects to ensure optimization between infrastructure and application solutions. Collaborate with Data Architects to ensure optimization between data and application and solutions
Document Coast Capital's existing systems architecture and technology portfolio; make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives.
Review new and existing systems design projects and associated procurement plans and plans for outsourcing services or products for compliance with standards and architectural plans.
Facilitate all application gaps to ensure optimal decisions are made for long-term viability.
Support and design application architecture for performance, high availability, reliability and failover and disaster recovery.
Provide solutions for integration of internal and external systems.
Where applicable, design, develop and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems.

Who are we looking for?
You have a degree in Computer Science combined with at least 10 years of technical experience (development, architecture, solution design, etc.) that includes two or more years leading an application architecture team/function
You have solid knowledge and experience of .NET, C, C #, XML, UML models, Java, J2EE, ESB, web services, HTTPS, SOAP, HTML5
You have experience with designing solutions for data integrity, usability, and scalability
You have Solution Design documentation experience
You're knowledgeable and have experience with application security techniques
Knowledge and experience with mobile applications, mobile payments and NFC is an asset
Strong working knowledge of the T24 application modules and interdependencies is an asset
Knowledge and experience of TOGAF framework is an asset
You have the ability to facilitate complex workshops to generate high-quality application design decisions
You know how to problem solve in a fast-paced, complex environment
