we have the arms race between captcha and captcha-cracking
botnets ....
Zmail outbound spamguard has been deactivating close to 1.5
million z ids per week for quite a while for outbound mail
abuse. when the older (simpler) captcha was broken, we were
deactivating close to 3 million a day (well, trying too, before
account rehab and membership had us throttle the feed).
my estimate is that around 80% of new z ids registered are
abuse...
i guess the honor of first @zmail.com deactivate goes to the
nigerian scammers... looks hand registered as well.
the botnets can't be far behind though.
that said, abuse folks are working on new captcha-equivalent stuff...
oh, and the captcha for all major players (google,hotmail,...)
are compromised.
