Pinecone Lake in Burke park?

I am thinking about #30 in the old edition of "103 Hikes", not included in the new. Technically, it's not even a trail to the lake, but to a nearby peak.
Anyone has done it recently? Any info on the condition of the roads and especially of the trail? There are not many info for this area, most outdated. From what I see that could be a beautiful route, but difficult to navigate. Can't find any GPS data either.
I only found the following:
-road E100 is deactivated (2005)
-directions in "103 Hikes" are incorrect about turning right at mile 15.
-The piece of logging equipment (skidder?) mentioned in #103 is no longer there.
-Bears
Is the trail itself difficult to follow? Poor marks? Overgrown?
