Drivers caught speeding excessively in British Columbia will soon risk having their cars impounded for the offence.
Starting Sept. 20, drivers caught going more than 40 km/h over the posted speed limit will have their vehicle impounded for seven days, the provincial government announced Thursday.
"Excessive speed is often a death sentence," said B.C. Solicitor General Mike de Jong. "We want to save lives by going after the kind of driver who drives significantly and dangerously over the posted speed limit, and then get them off the road."
A driver caught committing the same speeding offence a second time will lose the vehicle for 30 days.
The penalty will be 60 days for drivers who are caught for a third time or more within a two-year period.

Точно. Оба места-мой ежедневный маршрут на работу и обратно. Везде 80-90 свистишь.

Там останавливают тех, кто едет 60 и пожимают руку.

First Time Offenders
* $2,000 - $10,000 Fine!
* 7 Day Licence Suspension You'll also need to schedule getting a new drivers licence.
* 7 Day vehicle impoundment. The OPP will likely request a tow truck, and have your vehicle towed from the spot where you are pulled over.
* 6 Demerit Points
* Towing and 7 day vechicle impound storage fees
* Possible driver's licence suspension for a maximum of 2 years
Repeat Offenders
This offense stays on your record for 10 years. If you're caught speeding 50 km/h over the speed limit a second time with 10 years of your first offense, you'll face possible driver's license suspension of up to 10 years.
Demerit Points
You'll face 6 demerit points up conviction for speeding over 50 km/h over the posted speed limit. For full details, see the Ontario Demerit Points System. If you've been recently convicted of this offense, you should immediatly request a copy of your driving record.
For new drivers (Class G1, G2, M1 or M2), you'll have to attend an interview to explain why your driver's licence should not be suspended. At 9 points, you face a 60 day license suspension.
For fully licenced drivers, you'll have to attend an interview to explain why your driver's licence should not be suspended if you have 9 points. At 15 or more points, you face a 30 day license suspension.
Insurance
Perhaps the largest cost of this offense is the increase in your insurance rates. It's quite possible that many insurance companies will discontinue your policy altogether. If you are able to continue your insurance with your existing policy, expect to pay 5 to 10 times more. It's quite possible for insurance rates to increase up to $10,000 per year.

а зачем ты им подсказываешь? думаешь, никто из работающих в ситях, айсибисях, и арсиэмпях в каморку не заглядывают?
