Family Insurance Solutions Inc. is a Vancouver based member of The Economical Insurance Group. Economical Mutual Insurance Company is the insurer on all Family polices and is 100% Canadian owned and operated.

Reporting directly to the QA Team Leader, this position is responsible for test case preparation and execution for Family’s business systems. The Senior QA Analyst will be responsible for test planning as well as reviewing, writing and executing test cases. In addition, the Senior QA Analyst is responsible for generating, analyzing, documenting and explaining test results. This position participates in the call escalation process, providing problem resolution to the Company’s internal users and is a member of the Data Management Team, ensuring the quality of the system’s data.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze requirements and detailed specifications of complex programs to determine the most efficient approach for structuring testing
• Develop the testing strategy and document the test plan to meet the requirements of a specified project.
• Ensure that testing plans and strategies are coordinated and aligned with Family’s development team and any vendor partners
• Provide estimates for testing assignments
• Assign risk factors to solution components and plan testing appropriately; work with the development team to define the delivery order of a project’s software components to ensure an efficient test schedule
• Develop detailed testing scenarios to fully test the business requirements
• Identify and implement testing automation opportunities
• Execute test cases using manual and automated testing processes
• Manage defects through the system development lifecycle (through to closure)
• Participate in regression, systems, integration, stress, user acceptance and other testing reviews
• Provide technical direction to user acceptance testing groups
• Prepare and document summary results of testing outcomes
• Liaise with the development team and any vendor partners, quality assurance, and business analysts to ensure understanding and usage of business design documents and functional specifications
• Document all work according to documentation standards.
• Define quality gate and quality acceptance criteria
• Keep abreast of improvements in testing techniques and tools to apply where applicable.
• Conceive, propose and promote new ideas and methods.
• Provide BSS help desk support to internal and external users to indentify and resolve unexpected system behavior. Provide support for incident and problem classification and analysis.
• Support the Company’s EFT process through the creation of the bank file and the creation and merging of the customer and payment transaction files.
• Participate as a member of the Data Management Team, responsible for the quality (accuracy and integrity) of the Company’s proprietary data.
• Mentor and train junior testers and data analysts

Education and Experience:

• Technical or college degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or some other related area of study or equivalent in experience.
• Minimum 10 years Testing experience in web-based applications testing preferably within the Property and Casualty insurance industry
• Minimum 5 years’ experience using SQL and be a current user
• Proficiency in the use of MS Office
• Knowledge of JIRA, Test Complete is an asset.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing
• Experience in troubleshooting user issues
