Position Title: Senior GIS application developer
Department: Information Technology

Immediate Manager: Manager, Systems Development Group



Division/Business Unit Mission
The Systems Development group is a unit within the Information Technology department currently responsible for providing the appropriate support and enhancement of the Crop Insurance and Market Revenue applications as well as corporate reporting tools running on different platforms (Main frame and client/server).

Basic Function/Purpose of the Position and Deliverables
Reviewing existing Vitis application for the purpose of implementing new requirements and data model changes. In this position you are involve in technical design and participate in development and implementing of a web based GIS application using ESRI products using .NET and ASP.
In this position developer works closely with other programmers to design and develop application components identified in the requirements. Collaborate with the project development team to build standard unit test cases and test methods for application testing purposes.
Delivery of proper documentation and knowledge transfer to the rest of the project’s team for future support/ maintenance of application is another responsibility for this position.

Time frame of project
Approx. 6 months.

Specialized Technical Knowledge and experiences
- GIS Application design and application development using ESRI products (ARCIMS, ARCSDE) minimum experience 5+ years
- VB.NET and ASP Internet application development minimum experience 5+ years
- Experienced in Java Script and HTML
- Oracle 9i (or newer) experience 3+ years
- The ability to work, unassisted with minimum supervision
- The ability to troubleshoot possible performance issues, bugs and or areas of concern in application

Minimum Education
Preferred Education, B. SC. in computer or GIS.

Required Skills
- Experienced in GIS application development using ESRI products, ARCIMS, Map objects.
- Fully experienced in full cycle WEB application development using .NET, ASP and Oracle
- Experienced in preparing design and technical documentation
- Experienced in training and knowledge transfer to the team
