Toronto - JUNIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

For small yet established company north of the GTA that has been delivering innovative core banking software and systems to financial institutions for over 30 years. The position is a full time position and the selected candidate will be part of a team working on the migration and re-development of the existing banking software onto a new multi tiered software platform.

This position is ideally suited for an entry level software developer with some development experience using Java, Struts and HTML.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- work with lead developer to code requested components
- maintenance and support of current software written in Java
- develop written specifications as requested
- work with lead developer to design and develop add on modules or components for existing and new banking system
- ensure development and documentation standards are maintained
- provide implementation assistance and training assistance on new modules and new system as required
- troubleshoot and resolve bugs in code

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

post secondary degree in computer science or programming
2 years experience design and development of multi tier applications
2 years experience in Java development
Experience with JAVA (SERVLETS, JSP, JDBC), JAVASCRIPT, HTML, XML
Experience with Tomcat, Struts, Spring, Linux, or Velocity would be an asset
Experience with databases such as SQL and PostgreSQL
Experienced at testing and debugging code
Ability to work unsupervised
Must be able to meet development objectives on time
Effective oral and written communication skills
