MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

•As part of the software development lifecycle, the senior software developer is expected to contribute to requirements gathering and analysis on certain projects. This will be accomplished by consulting with the internal business users in order to create a formalized requirements document which distinguishes the business user needs and the technical constraints.
•To analyze and design at the high and detailed level, creating the high-level functional and low-level technical specifications of the design solution. The analysis techniques to be employed will vary by project and will include data modeling, object oriented analysis and decomposition. The design will be specified in a written document and include UML diagrams.
•To perform coding and debugging using the toolset appropriate to the project and platform. The primary toolset will include Visual Studio and related profiling tools for the Windows and .NET platforms. As the senior developer, a high level of proficiency and knowledge of the APIs, programming idioms and patterns, and organisation of code is required. The secondary platforms for which some knowledge will be required include Java EE and the Oracle RDBMS. The source configuration system will be used for check-ins.
•To create test plans and facilities for unit, regression, integration and user acceptance testing. This will be accomplished by a thorough analysis of specifications and the creation of test cases as required for code coverage.
•As part of the responsibilities of a software professional for their personal and team software development processes, it is required that the senior software developer must create project plans, reports, estimates and communicate routinely with team members and the manager as to progress and recommendations. The use of project and schedule software, and task tracking systems is required.
•This position is primarily development oriented and may occasionally require operational support for systems and applications during the implementation stage.
•Complies with the company’s vision, fundamentals, policies and procedures
•Performs other tasks as assigned by management


SKILLS

• University degree in software engineering, computer science, mathematics or statistics.
• Minimum of 10 years software development experience with 5 years minimum in-depth expertise with Visual Studio C++ development and 2 years in-depth expertise with C# .NET and XML.
• Expert knowledge of Windows and .NET platforms and APIs, C++, C#, ATL, COM, GDI and GDI+, XML SAX and DOM technologies.
• Expert knowledge of the Visual Studio compiler and debugger, make, profilers, unit testing frameworks, and design tools.
• Strong knowledge and practice of object-oriented analysis and design, user interface design, data modelling, and use of UML.
• Knowledge of performance, memory, and threading issues involving C++, ATL, COM and .NET.
• Background in statistics or mathematics.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Excellent research and problem solving skills.
• Reputation for being thorough and accurate.
• Strong documentation skills.
